13, 14, 40, 45? for the ask game!

13. hardest character to write

Of the characters I've been writing for so far I think I'm going to have to say Slade. I'm trying really really hard to make him into an actual threat without making him completely insurmountable, but also I want to clown on him just a little. It's a delicate balance.

I'm always thinking of that time that he kidnapped Ollie, and Dinah thought it was staged as an anniversary gift. Hilarious.

I'm also not super horribly fond of him so I haven't read as many of his focused stuff unless I was reading for a different character so getting his personality right is... something I'm not sure how to do.

14. easiest character to write

I think I'm going to have to say Roy, which is very funny to me.

Jason honestly isn't that far behind him but Roy's humor (and potential insecurities) just comes far more naturally than Jason's brand I think? At least in part because, while I project a lot onto Jason, he's at a point with his mental health that I'm so far beyond? That it takes more effort for me to call on some of that passively suicidal mentality, especially since I think part of Jason doesn't... register that's what it is. Depends on the story though.

40. which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series

Of the published ones, it feels like cheating to say it but I'd have to say In-Thighed My Head. There's a lot of it that's very cinematic in my mind (like with the action scenes), and details that get left out because of the POV limitations, and because if I tried to explain everything that I "see" going on in that scene it'd be very cluttered and hard to follow.

If we're including non-published I think XVI in Upright would be an absolute banger. Works better than Thigh Puns bcs it's a standalone so it could just be a one-and-done movie, and like, the flashing around to what different people are doing throughout would work well in that format.

45. share the synopsis of a story you work on that you haven’t published yet

hmm, arguably cheating again, but I'll put two because one of these you've 100% seen. The first one is the synopsis for one of Thigh Puns' prequels:

A Friend in Knee-d - "In which Stephanie Brown saves the world. Or, well, she saves Batman.  No, not that Batman. Or, while Tim is running off with barely any explanation that anyone can make sense of except the massive guilt trip he left in his wake, Steph steps back into the emerald pixie boots to support the new Batman. And, boy, Dick Grayson is more of a hot mess than she realized. With an independant emphasis on both words. Robin's job, Tim had told her once, is to keep Batman sane or something. She doesn't have the time to unpack how fucked up that is, but she does think she knows what her Batman really needs: He needs some fucking friends."

This is one of my absolute favorite summaries I've ever written, and the concept (the Robin!Steph with Dick!Bats of it, at least) is one I've wanted to toy with for a long time and it fit well enough to this AU that it worked for an explanation of what's going on in the wider world given the changes I've made.

Okay, so you're technically also already aware of "Like a Cat on a Hot Crime Lord," BUT, okay so there's a much much older concept that I'm going to be cannibalizing for a lot of that story called "We're Not Harboring Fucking Cinderella." The name is supposed to be a joke bcs Lian's street name was Shoes.

It was going to be a bit of tragi-comedy of errors/a lot of near misses where Jason and Lian are working together in Gotham to deal with some Black Mask issues that cropped up while Jason's been out of Gotham (due to, yknow), unaware that a recently-back-from-the-dead Roy & some of the Arrows are scouring the city looking for her bcs neither of them know he's alive.

I may or May not keep the Black Mask part but I WILL be incorporating more magic into the new version of whatever shenanigans they're up to solving. Because Roy got turned into a cat, and I gotta eventually turn him back somehow.
